WRITING

I’ve been publishing culture writing since 2013, both online and in print.Notable bylines: Unwinnable, The A.V. Club, Kerrang!, Dazed, METRO, and more.I am also a regular contributor to The A.V. Club's Podmass column.More writing samples can be viewed on Contently.

consulting

Another part of my freelance skillset is consulting, whether that’s for big brands, for a small one-person business, or an independent person's creative projects.I work with clients to see what their goals are with the project they’re working on and help them hone in on what they want to get across/make suggestions on how to develop areas of their projects they feel might be lacking. I especially love working with other creatives.

How I Work

I will have a chat over email with questions for the person I’m working with.I’ll read through any and all documents you send me beforehand and flag anything I think needs to be clarified or changed and work through each of them with you to see how we can make sure it’s the best it can be.I’ll also ask some questions that are more general, like what you’re trying to get across, so I can get a feel for how I can help you best. Then from there we can have another email to go over changes you might have made, and any questions or doubts you still have.

testimonials

"I contacted Alma to help promote my band's new album. They have a prolific Twitter presence, and were a perfect choice to reach further into a queer audience and signal boost the marketing we had put together. They made great memes based on the album lyrics, which include themes of lesbianism and tragedy, and captured the self-deprecation and tongue-in-cheek aspects of our music. I would definitely contact them in the future to help promote us again." — Katie Gatt, from the band Personal Best

"Alma's contributions to Podmass have helped the feature grow in scope and reach out to a wider range of podcast listeners. As a contributor, they find strong audio series to cover that we might have missed, never going for the more obvious choices. Their celebration of diverse artists and material within a tight, descriptive review format is a valuable skill set for any writer." — Marnie Shure, Podmass Editor at The A.V. Club

"Alma is an incredibly talented writer and a real pleasure to work with. Our publication has an ethos centred on a thorough editing and feedback process, and they engaged with that wholeheartedly - responding both quickly and professionally and hitting our edit notes perfectly first time. We're big fans of Alma's work at Track 7 and welcome any opportunity to work with them in the future." —Kristy Diaz, Editor at Track 7
